Ban on burning charcoal at Flamingo Beach
The Public Services Department in Ras Al Khaimah has decided to ban the lighting of charcoal or barbecuing on Flamingo Beach in order to maintain the beach’s aesthetic appearance, enhance public safety, and reduce pollution caused by charcoal remnants, which were affecting the site’s cleanliness. This measure comes amidst concerns over debris and the neglect of some visitors who were burying charcoal in the sand, harming the environment. Data indicates that violations related to lighting fires or barbecuing outside designated areas constitute the majority of recorded environmental violations, with their number exceeding 650 violations until the end of last August.
