It has been a quarter of a century since His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, launched the Dubai Press Club initiative. What started as a gathering place for media professionals to discuss the future of the profession has evolved into a prestigious media forum and a well-known award. This development has helped strengthen Dubai's position in Arab media and has spurred the adoption of technology and the facing of new challenges such as artificial intelligence and fake news. Currently, Arab media are undergoing a tough test in maintaining professionalism and transparency of information. Preserving free dialogue and leveraging technology without losing the human element remains a priority for the next quarter-century.
