Indonesia seeks 129 missing after ferry capsizes
A ferry sank in the Java Sea in Indonesia during bad weather. The incident resulted in the death of six people and the disappearance of another 129 out of a total of 243 onboard, including 30 crew members and 89 vehicles. Following a distress call, 108 people were rescued, while search efforts for the missing continue, with the search area expanding around the location where the ferry was before sinking, approximately 148 kilometers from Pangarjaman. Preliminary reports indicate that the ferry was struck by rough seas and high waves, which caused it to list and capsize. Poor weather conditions are believed to be the main cause.
