Indian police detain Cockroach Party leaders
Indian police have arrested the leader of the "Cockroach Party" and thousands of protesters in New Delhi during an attempt by the protesters to reach a demonstration site demanding the resignation of the Indian Election Commission chief. These protests come after weeks of opposition parties gathering to protest alleged misconduct during the review of voter records overseen by the commission. The opposition claimed that tampering occurred, while the commission insisted that the aim was to remove duplicate and ineligible names. These demonstrations resemble a previous campaign organized by the movement in July, which led to the resignation of the Education Minister following an exam scandal.
