Brazil Lula and Bolsonaro clash in debate
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and his opponent, senator Flávio Bolsonaro, faced off in their first televised debate ahead of the runoff election scheduled for October 25. The atmosphere was tense, with both sides exchanging criticisms and insults, without any serious discussion of their future plans. Bolsonaro had initially led in the first round with 47% of the vote compared to Lula's 45%. Polls indicate a close race between them, with Bolsonaro’s victory representing an increase in U.S. influence in the region, while Lula advocates for strengthening Brazil’s relations with China.
