The Iranian national team confirmed its rejection of any events or celebrations supporting the LGBTQ+ community during the Egypt versus Iran match in the 2026 World Cup, conveying its stance to FIFA through official channels. This comes amid statements from the Seattle organizing committee, which announced that the highly anticipated Egypt vs. Iran match will be held at Lumen Field, amid controversy over organizing events in support of the LGBTQ+ community, despite the rejection of these celebrations by both the Egyptian and Iranian governments, as they conflict with the cultural and religious values of the two countries.
