Sociology Insights into Fan Zone Incidents
Dr. Soheir Safwat confirmed that attacks on public property during mass gatherings, such as the Fan Zone area during the World Cup matches in the new capital, are due to psychological and social factors. These include crowd psychology and a lack of awareness of the value of public funds. She pointed out that the culture of trending topics and young people's desire to display violent behaviors on social media platforms contribute to these actions, with little distinction between public and private property, leading to their damaging without feeling guilty. She emphasized the need to implement legal penalties, such as community service, to repair the damage caused and to reinforce a sense of responsibility among offenders.
