Nigeria launches pilot ‘Safe Child’ unit
The National Council for Childhood and Motherhood has launched a pilot operation of the "Safe Child Unit" aimed at enhancing the protection of at-risk children by providing psychological, social, and legal support services, along with rapid response to hotline reports. During 2025, the hotline received approximately 24,521 reports. The unit is working to assess needs and safely and sustainably reintegrate children into their families. This initiative is part of efforts to develop the child protection system in collaboration with Plan International to ensure a safe and supportive environment for children.
