Lebanon's Peaceful Future Debate

The United States, Israel, and Lebanon have agreed to sign a tripartite framework agreement in Washington, aimed at strengthening peace and security in Lebanon, specifically to establish a peace dialogue and security partnership. The agreement includes gradual adjustments in the transfer of control over weapons and sovereign authority to the Lebanese state. It focuses on ending the state of war, reviving the state's authority over the use of force, and enhancing international support for the Lebanese army institutions, without currently resulting in a final treaty. This agreement is considered an important step toward changing the balances in Lebanon and the region, but it faces internal and external challenges amid ongoing tensions and conflicts.
