Switzerland Reaffirms Neutrality While Continuing Ammunition Purchases for NATO

The Swiss government announced the expansion of its cooperation with NATO and its continued participation in the ammunition purchasing financing mechanism of the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), despite its adherence to the principle of neutrality. Since 1996, Switzerland has participated in programs for the procurement of air-to-air missiles, Stinger missiles, and Patriot air defense systems, with the possibility of withdrawal if a participating entity becomes involved in an armed conflict, to ensure its commitment to neutrality. This comes within the context of strengthening joint military capabilities with the alliance while maintaining its stance supporting neutrality.
