Minister of Local Development and Environment emphasizes climate adaptation funding as a priority for developing countries ahead of COP31

During a meeting of the Developing Eight (D-8) countries in Turkey, Egypt's Minister of Local Development and Environment, Dr. Manal Abdel, presented her vision to strengthen the position of developing countries on environmental issues and climate change ahead of COP31. She emphasized the importance of funding adaptation and closing the financial gap, along with supporting the activation of the Loss and Damage Fund to assist the most vulnerable communities. She called for the creation of a unified coordination mechanism to empower developing countries to negotiate with a collective voice and to turn the Istanbul Declaration into a roadmap for enhancing partnerships and climate investment. Egypt is prepared to collaborate with member countries to achieve fair and actionable outcomes at the upcoming climate conference.
