Water Authority: Beach structures need approval
Official statements have confirmed that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives include the implementation of strict regulations on the construction of facilities along Egyptian beaches. He emphasized the importance of adhering to laws that prohibit building within 200 meters of the shoreline unless official approvals are obtained from the relevant authorities. Legislation affirms that any violation of this ban is considered a serious offense, punishable by imprisonment for up to six months and fines ranging from 5,000 to 50,000 Egyptian pounds. Additionally, any illegal constructions must be immediately removed, and the tools used in such violations are to be confiscated. The law exempts certain limited cases that require an approved technical study, which are subject to review and approval by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and the Ministry of Environment, in order to protect the coasts from encroachments and preserve the environmental balance.
