National Authority supervises disability craft expo
Dr. Iman Kareem, the General Supervisor of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, inaugurated the 11th exhibition of products made by persons with disabilities in Alexandria. The event was held at the Talai’ Al Asdool Club in Ras El Tin from August 13 to 15. The exhibition featured 55 exhibitors with various disabilities, showcasing a diverse range of handmade and artisanal products such as leather goods, ceramics, knitting, clothing, furnishings, accessories, paintings, as well as products made from shells and gemstones, reflecting their abilities in production and work. The opening activities included discussions on the types of materials used and marketing methods, emphasizing the importance of supporting economic empowerment for persons with disabilities and expanding product exhibitions to create greater opportunities and demonstrate their capabilities within society. This initiative is part of the Council’s plan to conduct 24 exhibitions in 2026, aiming to enhance the participation of persons with disabilities in the market and to change the stereotypical perception of their abilities, within the framework of governmental initiatives and efforts to encourage freelance work and entrepreneurship.
