Social Solidarity Benefits 4.7M Families with Takaful and Karama
The "Takaful and Karama" program aims to support poor families, the elderly, and people with disabilities in Egypt. Currently, it covers 4.7 million families, a significant increase from the nearly 1.7 million families receiving support when it was launched in 2014. The monthly assistance amount has risen from 70 Egyptian pounds to 900 pounds, with the possibility of increasing it in certain cases. The program provides financial support, as well as full exemption from school fees for children, and integrates families into the food and health insurance systems. Its primary focus is on impoverished families, individuals with special needs, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
