Fatwa Clarifies Praying Behind Imam on TV
The article discusses the ruling on performing prayers behind the imam via television. The Dean of the Fatwa House in the Egyptian Dar al-Ifta stated that the validity of the prayer depends on how well the rows are connected. If the rows are extended and connected all the way to the hotel lobby, then the prayer is valid because it is considered connected to the imam's prayer, even though the person praying is inside the hotel. However, if there is a gap between the hotel and the Haram and the rows are not extended, then praying via screen is not valid, and the person praying must come down and join the rows in person to ensure the validity of the prayer.
