U.S. Treasury Promises to Block Iran Funds
U.S. Treasury Secretary Steve Bissett affirmed that the United States will shut down any channels for money transfers to Iran and will track any entity supporting Tehran. He stated that Iran is currently unable to access the dollar and that the collapse of its economy is only a matter of time, adding that Washington will pressure Iran to reach an agreement. These remarks come as part of an escalation in economic sanctions against Iran, with plans announced to impose new sanctions on Iranian banks this week, targeting financial institutions linked to the Revolutionary Guard.
