Egypt achieved a historic milestone at the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto, finishing fifth overall in the medal rankings with its largest medal tally in history—58 medals, including 23 gold, 16 silver, and 19 bronze. Egypt succeeded in breaking its previous record of 58 medals set 13 years ago, highlighting that this success is the result of comprehensive efforts by the delegation, planning, and administrative and technical support—not just individual effort. A total of 196 Egyptian athletes participated in the Games, securing medals across more than 23 sports, with a focus on achieving better results and setting new records. This reflects the development of Egyptian sports and the success of cooperation between the relevant authorities, the Olympic Committee, and various federations.
