Egyptian Minister of Agriculture, Alaa Farouk, discussed with a German delegation from the Technical University of Munich ways to develop vertical farming systems and wheat production in enclosed environments, with the aim of securing the country's food needs. The meeting emphasized that the move towards vertical agriculture aims to support traditional farming, especially in light of climate challenges, water scarcity, and limited agricultural land. The discussions included outcomes from a workshop on utilizing German technology, such as artificial intelligence and solar energy, to increase wheat productivity with less water. An agreement was reached to prepare a joint research project to assess the economic and environmental feasibility of vertical wheat farming in Egypt.
