Russian company Rosatom announced the completion of welding work on the main coolant pipe line in Unit 2 of the Akoyu Nuclear Power Plant in Egypt, marking an important step in forming the reactor's primary circuit. The welding process took 73 days and involved a team of specialized engineers and technicians, including thorough inspections using techniques such as ultrasonic testing and radiography to ensure quality. The main coolant pipe, which exceeds 150 meters in length with wall thickness of 70 millimeters, is essential for transporting high-temperature water to ensure the reactor operates efficiently and safely. This achievement is a key indicator of progress in the Akoyu plant project, which is Turkey's first nuclear power plant. It operates under a build-own-operate model, with each unit having a production capacity of up to 1,200 megawatts.
