Arab trade surpasses $250 billion

At the 118th session of the Arab League Council’s Economic and Social Committee, Egypt emphasized strengthening economic integration among Arab countries, aiming to boost trade, investment, and development. Minister of Investment, Dr. Mohamed Fadly, highlighted that the volume of trade exchange among Arab nations has exceeded $250 billion, but the level of cooperation still falls short of expectations and requires continued efforts to reinforce markets, financial and investment sectors, and to develop financial tools. He also stressed the importance of unifying data and advancing the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, in addition to incorporating new fields such as sustainability and financial technology to enhance competitiveness. He pointed out that achieving true integration among markets and financial and investment sectors will promote trade movement and support economic and social development, while reaffirming the commitment to support the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza. He concluded by emphasizing the need to shift from mere coordination to genuine integration to strengthen the region’s ability to face global economic changes.
