Ministerial directives on tree cutting approval
The Minister of Local Development and Environment, Dr. Manal Awad, directed the governorates not to start cutting or uprooting trees, nor to grant permission to others to do so, except with her approval and after obtaining the opinion of the Environmental Affairs Agency. This is part of the efforts to protect trees and achieve the goals of the presidential initiative to plant 100 million trees. She emphasized the importance of monitoring violations against trees in streets and parks, taking the necessary legal actions, and notifying the governorates and relevant authorities within 24 hours of any violations. She also stressed the significance of preserving trees and benefiting from their environmental and climate advantages, as well as updating the data of the committee responsible for implementing the initiative within one week.
