Reports confirmed that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced a plan to regulate the Egyptian markets, starting with a price reduction initiative beginning September 10th, which will last for six months. The initiative aims to increase the supply of 12 basic commodities such as sugar, oil, and cheese to achieve market equilibrium and ensure that goods reach those in need through outlets of consumer cooperatives and the Jamiaty project. The plan also seeks to expand private sector participation and guarantees the Ministry of Supply's role in ensuring product quality and oversight through the Consumer Protection Agency.
