MP announces progress on East Port Said student acceptance crisis
The article discusses the crisis surrounding the cancellation of acceptance for 360 students into the University of East Port Said's College of Medicine just two weeks before the start of the academic year, which caused student discontent. The parliament has shown urgent action, with members holding a meeting with the Minister of Higher Education to discuss increasing the number of admitted students in line with the educational capacities, while maintaining the quality of training. An official memorandum has been submitted to the Prime Minister outlining proposed solutions, including expanding the training spaces within hospitals in Port Said and Bair El-Abed to enhance students' capacity. It is expected that the issue will soon see a breakthrough, thanks to ongoing coordination among the relevant authorities to ensure students' rights and the continuity of their education.
