The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Mecca Agreement for Mutual Defense signed between Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia last August is considered a defensive alliance, and there are currently no plans to expand it. They confirmed that the agreement focuses on collective response in the event any of the three countries comes under attack, and aims to promote regional and international peace and stability through burden-sharing and security coordination. Despite the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, commitments under the agreement have not changed, and this serves as a step to strengthen defense cooperation among the three countries.
