Launch of 10,000 lease-to-own apartments
The Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities has launched a project that includes offering 10,000 housing units on a rent-to-own basis across 26 governorates, aimed at facilitating citizens' access to affordable housing. The initiative comprises 5,000 units that have already been completed and an additional 5,000 units that will be executed within 36 months. The units are divided into segments based on value and income. Applications will be accepted electronically through the "Maskan" portal from September 20, 2026, to October 19, 2026. Eligibility requirements include age, residency, and not owning a previous housing unit, with the units allocated through a public lottery. The rental period extends up to 20 years, with ownership starting upon receipt of the unit.
