In the match between Al Ahly and Petroleum Asyut in the Capital City Cup 2026-27, Al Ahly secured a 1-0 victory. Mohamed Magdy Afsha scored the only goal in the second minute, following a mistake by Petroleum Asyut's goalkeeper, giving the Reds a strong start to the tournament. Al Ahly applied significant pressure and maintained substantial possession during the first half, with Afsha's goal resulting from a poor positioning by the goalkeeper. Meanwhile, Petroleum Asyut tried to surprise the Reds with counterattacks, but they failed to score. Al Ahly aims to achieve victory to progress further in the competition, especially as they are seeking to make up for a previous season in which they only won the Super Cup. Conversely, Petroleum Asyut is striving for a strong start after their return to the Premier League following a 16-year absence.
