Rasha Sharbini on Honor and Comparison
TV presenter Reem Radwa Shabaneh responded to being compared to Huda Shourawi and Safia Zaghoul, which was mentioned in a video clip by a history teacher attacking female icons and describing them as feminists of their generation, likening her to them. Radwa stated that being likened to these figures is an honor for her, not an insult. She emphasized that Egyptian women have stepped out to participate in education, work, and nation-building, not to diminish their rights. She clarified that using her name in mockery of Egyptian women is unacceptable. Her support for women is demonstrated through respecting their dignity and their right to choose their own lives willingly, not by opposing men or destroying families.
