Shoubir Explains VAR Issues and Penalties on Fans
Sports journalist Ahmed Shobier confirmed that the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology was functioning correctly and did not malfunction during the Al Ahly vs. Zamalek match. He clarified that the referee did not need to use it. He also explained that any potential sanctions against Al Ahly fans for their chants against Zamalek would take the form of a monetary fine based on the match observer’s report, as the referee is a foreign official and does not have the authority to determine sanctions.
