France protests: 1,200 arrests amid large demonstrations
France is facing a widespread wave of protests and violence after around 550,000 demonstrators took to the streets, including 110,000 in Paris, to demand better educational conditions, fight the rising cost of living, and oppose the concentration of wealth and power. The demonstrations have included acts of violence, such as setting fire to government buildings and damaging infrastructure, resulting in the arrest of approximately 1,200 people.
