The article discusses the activities of the eighth edition of the Cairo International Festival for University Theatre, held from October 24 to 30, 2026. This edition was titled "The Joyful Lady" and focused on supporting young people and university theatrical talents. During the event, it was announced that European and global participation had increased, with performances from countries such as Iraq, Romania, Tunisia, Turkey, Colombia, Ukraine, Slovakia, and Oman, alongside Egypt. The activities aimed to enhance students’ skills and nurture talents through theatrical performances, workshops, seminars, and artistic competitions, notably the "University Star" contests and the newly launched school competitions, designed to broaden youth engagement, especially at early stages. The festival organizers emphasized the importance of university and school theater in shaping young people's personalities and developing their creative and social abilities, while calling for greater support from government and private institutions. Artists Èsaa Younes and Safa Abu Al-Saud expressed their pride in the name chosen for this edition, both emphasizing the significance of theater as "the father of the arts" and a fundamental tool for youth development. They also encouraged participants to hold onto their dreams. This aligns with the festival’s broader efforts to promote cultural dialogue, exchange experiences among Arab and international youth, and establish theater as a means of expression and creativity.
