Documentary Soul competes at Sharjah festival
The short documentary film "Soul," directed by Yumna Saleh, is participating in the official competition at the Sharjah International Children's and Youth Film Festival, held in the United Arab Emirates from October 25 to November 1, 2026. The film explores the lives of three women—Sarah Osama, Dina Hassan, and Mai Abdel Aziz—delving into the details of their personalities through everyday symbols such as paper, the kitchen, and drawing. It employs editing techniques and transitions to enhance the harmony between their worlds. The work particularly highlights their relationship with memory, self-expression practices, and the recreation of daily life characterized by humanity and honesty, depicted through scenes of coffee, sounds, and songs. This offers the audience a window into a personal universe marked by uniqueness and depth.
