Egyptian journalists back sovereignty efforts

The Egyptian Journalists Syndicate has emphasized its full support for Egypt's stance against the Libyan House of Representatives' ratification of the memorandum of understanding signed between Turkey and the Fayez Al-Sarraj government in 2019, regarding the delineation of maritime zones in the Mediterranean Sea. It affirmed that Egypt's sovereign rights in its economic zone and continental shelf must not be violated, and that respecting international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (1982) is fundamental to fairly outlining maritime boundaries. The syndicate also called for avoiding unilateral measures that may harm Egypt’s rights, and highlighted its role in taking all legal and diplomatic measures to protect its interests, while stressing the importance of respecting the principles of good neighborliness and resolving maritime disputes through legal means.
