Electricity Minister on Power Losses

The Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy revealed that the loss rate in electricity distribution is approximately 16.7%, including about 10% technical loss and 7% due to unauthorized connections by consumers. The ministry is working on improving the grid and enhancing technical performance, in addition to issuing new legislation to reduce unauthorized connections and losses within the electricity system. The goal is to decrease wastage and improve energy efficiency. The plans also include implementing technical upgrades and modern technologies to reduce the technical loss, which accounts for around 4%, thereby strengthening the capacity to meet demand and minimize waste in the electricity system.
