Suspects broke into a jewelry store in Talbiya through an opening they made in the adjoining wall. After failing to open the safe with counterfeit keys, they used oxygen cylinders to cut it open and steal about three kilograms of gold and 800,000 Egyptian pounds. They set fire to the shop in an attempt to cover up the crime, but the blaze alerted neighbors and exposed the theft. Security forces arrested the suspects, who led them to the stolen goods, which were recovered. Investigators ordered that the suspects be held pending the investigation.
