Charity Wards Off Harm
The Fatwa Secretary at Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta, Sheikh Awaida Othman, said that charity can help relieve hardship, ward off calamity, and save people from the terrors of the Fire. It can be given even in a small amount, including by those who are not required to pay zakat. He noted the Prophet’s encouragement to protect oneself from the Fire through charity, even if only half a date, and urged people to give in pursuit of God’s pleasure and in gratitude for His blessings.
