Umrah Season Disrupted
Umrah travel was affected by developments in Saudi Arabia and the region: airfares rose by around 800 Egyptian pounds, some trips were postponed, and some pilgrims canceled their bookings and received refunds because of concerns and delays at airports. A source at the Chamber of Tourism Companies said the postponed trips later went ahead, with no outright cancellations or Umrah pilgrims returning early, as conditions gradually improved. In November 2026, 10-day budget Umrah packages start at 40,000 pounds, while five-star packages range from 65,000 to 70,000 pounds. For 15-day packages, budget options cost between 41,000 and 44,000 pounds, and five-star packages start at 75,000 pounds.
