Mohamed Ali Rizk said that Alaa, the character he played in the series *A Crime in Zamalek*, is portrayed as a victim of society and circumstances. In reality, however, he is guilty of wronging both himself and his sister. Rizk described him as selfish, exploiting his sister for money and spending it on drugs, and said he represents a type of person found in society. He added that the warehouse scenes, in which Alaa is injured, were the most difficult and physically and emotionally exhausting for him.
