Omar's Somali song choice
U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar celebrated her victory in the congressional election for Minnesota’s 5th District, dancing to Somali songs alongside artist Qais Al-Kaasi before a crowd of supporters in Minneapolis. The article says the songs were chosen as part of the celebratory atmosphere, which drew hundreds of Somalis, and gives no other specific reason. According to unofficial results, Omar received 76.48% of the vote, compared with 16.23% for her Republican opponent, John Nagel.
