CBS News reported, citing people familiar with the matter, that Donald Trump is weighing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s future following Republican losses in the elections and criticism related to the war with Iran. The network floated Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as a possible successor. Trump has made no final decision. He denied considering replacing Hegseth and said he was doing a good job, while the White House press secretary said the president trusts him. The network reported that DeSantis could take the post after his term as Florida governor ends on January 5.
