Artist Khaled Mahrous expressed sadness over the backlash he faced after announcing his support for Ashraf Zaki, head of the Actors’ Syndicate. He stressed that his stance came from personal conviction, not a desire for favors or work opportunities. He said society had lost its traditions of respect and its culture of disagreement. In the past, people used to worry about one another; today, he said, they fear one another. He emphasized that the Syndicate provides services to its members and helps resolve their disputes. He concluded his message to his critics by urging everyone to start by putting themselves right.
