Two Syrian military sources and a senior U.S. official told Reuters that Syria is providing Saudi Arabia with military advice and training to help it counter Houthi attacks, and that dozens of Syrian military personnel have moved to the kingdom in recent weeks. A Saudi official confirmed that joint training and an exchange of expertise are underway under the defense cooperation agreement signed by the two countries on Wednesday, while a Syrian diplomat said talk of a military deployment was premature. Washington has warned Damascus that any involvement in the war in Yemen could draw it into a broader regional conflict.
