A fire broke out at the main power station in Farafra, in Egypt’s New Valley Governorate, on the evening of Friday, November 6, 2026. Civil Protection forces dispatched fire engines to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby facilities. Efforts to bring the fire under control continued as authorities worked to determine its cause and the extent of the damage. The station has its own power generators because it is not connected to the main grid.
