Ex-Tory MP Craig Williams admits to gambling fraud
Former Conservative MP Craig Williams, who served as Rishi Sunak’s parliamentary private secretary, pleaded guilty to using confidential information to place bets on the 2024 general election date. He bet amounts on the election scheduled for July 4, 2024, after being privy to privileged discussions about the election timing. Williams is among several individuals facing charges related to cheating at gambling, with sentencing scheduled after trials of co-defendants next year and in 2028.
