Britons asked to submit meter readings before price cap increase
The average gas and electricity bill in Britain is set to increase by £221 due to a 13% rise in the energy price cap, which will take effect on Wednesday. Households on standard tariffs without smart meters are urged to submit current meter readings to avoid being overcharged for June usage. The price increase follows a spike in global energy prices caused by the Iran war, but some fixed-rate deals are available that remain cheaper than the new cap.
