Andy Burnham to review early release policy
Andy Burnham announced he will review the UK government's prisoner early release scheme with the justice secretary before it begins in September. The scheme allows over 5,000 prisoners, including serious offenders, to serve shorter sentences due to prison overcrowding. Burnham emphasized the need to ensure all aspects of the policy are thoroughly examined amid opposition from victims' groups and concerns about public safety.
