Scottish Labour critics oppose Sarwar's move
Anas Sarwar resigned as Scottish Labour leader to join Andy Burnham’s government, with plans to be made a peer and take a ministerial role. His move drew criticism from Scottish parties, including the SNP and Green Party, who accused him of hypocrisy and lying to voters about his intentions. The resignation occurred shortly before Scottish Labour's worst election results, and his parliamentary seat will be succeeded by Monica Lennon.
