Victim of ICE encounter was on tourist visa
Juan Jairo Coronilla Durán, a Mexican national vacationing in Florida with a tourist visa, was killed after running into traffic and being hit by a semi-truck during an encounter with federal immigration officials. The incident occurred at a gas station when Coronilla and others fled from authorities, leading to his death on July 14. His death is among four ICE-related fatalities within a week, prompting renewed calls to limit the agency's actions. Coronilla had only recently arrived in the US and left behind a wife and two children.
