Criticism over Palestine Action lawyer prosecution
Rajiv Menon KC, a prominent human rights barrister, is scheduled to stand trial next week in the UK for allegedly breaching court directions during a case involving six activists protesting at an arms factory linked to Elbit Systems UK. His prosecution over his closing speech has drawn criticism from legal figures, who fear it may chill attorneys’ ability to effectively represent clients, with some describing the move as a threat to judicial independence. The case has sparked concerns about politicization and the safety of free legal advocacy.
