Burnham aims to promote positivity in first PM speech
Andy Burnham, who recently became prime minister, will deliver his first address to MPs in the Commons and speak from the dispatch box after over 16 years. His statement is expected to focus on a broad review of his recent policy discussions, including plans to increase public control of essential services and promote economic growth through positivity and problem-solving. During the day, Burnham will chair cabinet meetings, submit a ministerial statement, and respond to MPs’ questions, facing the challenge of maintaining a constructive tone amid a traditionally confrontational parliamentary environment.
