BBC removes apprenticeship job pledge
The BBC plans to cut up to 2,000 jobs and save £500 million by 2028 amid financial pressures, leading to controversy over the cancellation of promised permanent positions for apprentices. Around 20 apprentices, many from diverse and working-class backgrounds, have been told their job guarantees are no longer valid due to the cuts, sparking internal anger. The organization has extended the apprenticeships until December and is making broader staff reductions, including cuts to popular programs.
